Brash and bonkers as ever, Veep bows out with an unapologetically absurd final season that solidifies its status as one of TV's greatest comedies.

Tv Season Info

The new season of VEEP finds Selina Meyer trying to gain traction in early primary states, wooing uber-wealthy donors while navigating threats from primary challengers, including aide-turned-congressman Jonah Ryan. Selina?s band of misfits is also back, except for Mike, who?s been banished from her orbit and is now covering the presidential campaign, having been replaced by his ongoing nemesis in the press, reporter Leon West. Meanwhile, Amy is figuring out how she feels about her pregnancy vis-a-vis Dan, who seems unwilling to give up his playboy ways for fatherhood. Rounding out the team are ever-faithful bagman Gary, cantankerous Ben, numbers-obsessed Kent and staffer Richard.

Critic Reviews for Veep Season 7

All Critics (58) | Top Critics (25)

And yet, while it may not be quite as insightful or scathing as it once was, "Veep" is still one of the best shows on TV, largely because it has arguably the best ensemble, all of whom return at the top of their game.

For all that this finale keeps getting described as dark, I was struck by how insanely optimistic that view of American politics really is.

Everyone is either a fool, a knave or a monster in HBO's hilariously scabrous political satire starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus. After seven seasons, Veep ends its run with its sharp teeth fully intact.

This is satire of the darkest order...

At this point in the show's run and our democracy's wobbles, Veep doesn't simply evoke real life. Real life inevitably evokes Veep.

Mar 29, 2019 | Full Review…

A joyful, wild, hilarious, insane -- and darker -- romp through the debasement of running for political office, as only "Veep" could imagine.

This is the way comedy is supposed to be.

Veep should be remembered as one of the best ensemble casts ever, with Louis-Dreyfus surrounded by an absolute murderer's row of comedic talent.

Dec 11, 2019 | Full Review…

The often brilliant comedy ended its seven-season run with an episode that highlighted the best of its brutality.

Dec 11, 2019 | Full Review…

The writing continues to be crisp, the humor remains potent, and a recovering Julia Louis-Dreyfus hasn't missed a beat.

Dec 11, 2019 | Full Review…

Landing every laugh with precision, style and grace, [Julia Louis-Dreyfus] isn't just the funniest woman working on television today. She's one of the funniest of all time.

But in the end, if Veep is a show about political addiction, then the seventh season promises a look at what people do to either get sober or lean into their vices full throttle.

Audience Reviews for Veep: Season 7

The final season went out with a bang. This is how you take your final bow. Bravo!!!

As Outrageous and honest as ever, Ianucci signs Veep off in fitting fashion, with his trademark acid wit, raunchy humour and stone-cold satire ringing true —— along with Julia Louis Dreyfus, Chlumsky and Hale, who deliver a spellbinding swansong that will leave you in awe. Goodbye Selina... it's been political! Iroh's grade: A

Amazing cast, amazing talent, all in all it was a fantastic show.

How charmed a career has Julia Louis-Dreyfus had. She rolls from arguably the greatest sitcom of all time into another fantastic show. I was a big fan of the BBC show "The Thick of It" (run out and watch it if you haven't seen it) but Veep has actually managed to out snark that landmark TV show. Roger Furlong hilarious portrayed by Dan Bakkedahl is one of the most hilariously vicious characters ever dreamed up and Selina Meyer is not far behind. I'm imagining Iannucci's depiction is not that far off from the real Capitol Hill minus the wit.

Never wanted to like the show but just couldn't help it. Great casting, great writing...It was great.
  • Aug 27, 2019
JLD is the best actress on TV (comedy), no contest! Great Veep finally.
  • Jul 30, 2019

  • Jul 08, 2019
Overratted - If you are not a hard core partisan liberal you can skip this one - its nothing but smug liberalism and christian/conservative bashing. The show also probably has the most racism in it that I have seen in modern TV era.
  • Jul 07, 2019
The language in this series is so vulgar that it becomes an annoyance as it the writers are daring one another to see how far down the toilet they can go. It's not funny, and it's no longer even shocking but tedious.
