11 fun game ideas to play with the kids inspired by Bluey

1. Dance Mode

All you need to play Dance Mode is an ON switch and some funky dance moves. Be warned if you play this in public you might need to channel your inner Bandit and boogie away wherever you are.

2. Taxi / Bus / Train

Whether you choose to be in a taxi, a bus or on a train you will need some props for these travel inspired games. Setup some chairs that mimic your chosen transport, decide who will be the driver and who will be the passengers. Let the kids decide where to go and see where the adventure takes you.

3. Grannies

To play Grannies or Grandads you will need to find some clothes for the little ones to get dress up in, blankets and big glasses worked a treat for Bluey and Bingo to get into character. Will your Grannies cause chaos like Rita and Janet?

Download the Fancy Grannies activity pack and design a blanket for Rita and Janet.

4. Torch Mouse

Bandit and Chilli have the night off and Uncle Rad and Frisky are babysitting. They play a new game called Torch Mouse to try and keep Bluey and Bingo from asking more and more questions. For this game you will need to play it somewhere dark, you could shut the curtains or turn off the lights to make it darker. Then use the torch on the ground and the mouse or mice need to follow the light. If you are feeling brave you could let the kids be in control of the torch and you can be the mouse.

5. Scavenger hunt ideas the whole family can take part in

Whether it's Halloween, Christmas or any day of the week you can use the Bluey scavenger hunt activity packs (or use any toys or drawings) and play a 'scavenger hunt' game. Take it in turns to hide the Bluey cards around your home so you and your family can seek them out!

6. Obstacle Course

Your obstacle course game doesn't need to be as competitive as Bandit makes it in the Obstacle Course episode, but you will need some props to layout the obstacle course to make it fun and exciting for the kids, you can do it indoors or outside if the weather is nice.

Hula hoops, bean bags, skipping ropes or household items like food cans could be used as items to run around and cardboard boxes as targets to throw balls or bean bags into. Building obstacle courses together is a great way to build your little one's motor skills and teach them about teamwork.

7. Keepy Uppy

All you need for this game is a balloon (or two if you want to make it more exciting) and lots of dedication from the little ones to keep the balloon in the air for as long as they can.

8. Blue Mountain Puppets

In the episode Blue Mountains Bluey and Bingo put googly eyes on their hands to make cute hand puppets, while Chilli tells a story they act it out. To play this game at home you will need a narrator with lots of stories for the puppets to act out. Using googly eyes to make the finger puppets come to life is very funny, but they aren't essential, you could use stickers or draw eyes on with face paint.

You could even make Bluey and Bingo sock puppets and act out different scenes from Bluey!

9. Charades

Playing charades it a classic family game, the aim of the game is to act out what you can see on the card without making any noises, but if you have small children you could include noise to make the game a little easier for them. Download the Bluey charades activity pack or make your own charades cards with drawings or words for older kids.

10. Sheepdog

You'd think from the title of this game that you would be barking like a sheepdog. But if you are following Bandit's lead you need to think SHEEP and baa baa your way around the house taking instructions from the kids, if they can stop laughing that is!

You can extend this game to include any animal you want, you could ask the kids to write down their favourite anaimals on a piece of paper and put them into a hat, pulling out which animal you have to impersonate next.

11. Born Yesterday

This game can create some very funny descriptions of every day things. One person, it can be the grown-up or one of the kids pretends they were 'Born Yesterday' and they don't anything at all and let the others explain the world to them.
