Get a grown-up to cut each orange into five or six slices. (It must be a grown-up doing this, as kitchen knives are sharp).
Step 1:
Step 2:
Place the orange slices on a wire rack and get a grown-up to put them in the oven for 120 degrees (1/2 gas mark) for 45 minutes.
Step 3:
Ask a grown-up to turn the slices over and bake for another 45 minutes. Keep checking on them so they don't burn.
Step 4:
When the slices are baked and completely cooled, we can get creative! Place an orange slice on top of a ball of modelling clay and use a pencil to poke a hole into the middle of the slice. Repeat until all your slices have a hole. You may also find that some already have a hole from baking.
Step 5:
Thread some string through the hole and tie the end to make a loop. You can now add the other orange slices to the string. Tie a loop in the string at each slice so they stay in place.
Step 6:
Tie the end of the string to the middle of the twig.
Step 7:
Tie another piece of string to each end of the twig so you can hang it up. Now you have your very own winter mobile.
