Monopoly board based on Yorkshire Dales launches
The special edition features tokens such as a slab of Wensleydale cheese and a miniature dry-stone wall

A new version of the Monopoly board game based on the Yorkshire Dales has been launched.
Instead of the traditional playing pieces like the Scottie dog and boot, the Yorkshire Dales edition features local tokens, including a slab of Wensleydale cheese and a miniature dry-stone wall.
Players must also 'pass GO' to land on more than 30 local landmarks, including Malham Cove, Aysgarth Falls and Fountains Abbey, as voted for by the public.
The national park was chosen for a spin-off edition ahead of other contenders, including the Amazon rainforest and the Grand Canyon.

It was selected because of the number of famous landmarks within its boundaries and its global tourist appeal, according to a spokesperson from Winning Moves UK, which makes Monopoly.
The game manufacturers also thanked the public for sending in their suggestions for which local landmarks should feature on the game.
“The response from the public to Monopoly: Yorkshire Dales Edition has been overwhelming," said John Keen-Tomlinson, custom games executive at Winning Moves UK.
Bolton Abbey takes the top ranking spot in this edition, equivalent to Mayfair in the original game, while Aysgarth Falls is the most affordable square, like Old Kent Road.
Malham Cove, Fountains Abbey, Masham Market and Settle Railway Station are among the other 30-plus local landmarks on the board.

As well as the squares, all the playing tokens are customised including a Craven Ram, a miniature dry stone wall, a slab of Wensleydale cheese, a pair of walking boots, a cricket bat, and a bicycle.
Throughout the game, players can also be penalised for 'wild camping', while others can be rewarded for 'quality sheepdog trials'.
Yorkshire resident Jason Bunn, Britain's only Monopoly world champion, said: "I have one of the world’s largest collections of Monopoly editions – more than 300 different themes, from Elvis to the Wizard of Oz, but Monopoly: Yorkshire Dales edition could very well be my favourite now.”
The classic board game, which was first released in the US in 1935, has already launched spin-off editions set in York, Harrogate and Scarborough.
