A 39-year-old man has died following a car crash on the B954 in Angus.

Police were called at 14.10 on Friday to the busy road between Auchterhouse and Newtyle

The man was the sole occupant of a blue BMW which crashed into a tree.

Paramedics attended and the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sgt Willie Strachan from Tayside roads policing unit urged anyone with information to get in touch, external.

He said: “This is a busy road, a direct route between Dundee and Newtyle.

"A number of people stopped to assist at the scene, and we have managed to speak to them but are keen to hear from anyone who has not yet been contacted by police or who may have, for example, dashcam footage from the road showing the type of vehicle involved, that may assist our investigation.”
