There are a number of ways in which BBC News users can send us information and content for use in our output, or to provide feedback. This page details how we manage that information and data if users raise technical issues about accessing those news content uploader services.

This information will be processed securely for the purposes of helping members of staff who build and manage BBC News digital products to be made aware of technical issues with those products.

We will use your name and email address should we need to contact you with further information about your technical issue. Your town or country will help to inform us of any technical differences to the service (such as advertising) if you are accessing BBC News from another country, or if you live in a rural location in the UK where your broadband service may affect your access to our apps.

The legal basis on which the BBC processes your personal information is performance of a public task. The BBC's role is to act in the public interest, and detecting and investigating technical issues arising from the delivery of our services helps the BBC to comply with its distribution obligations to reach all audiences in the UK and provide ways for audiences to engage with BBC products and services.

The BBC will retain your information for up to one year from the date of the upload, after which it will be deleted.

You have rights under data protection law. You can request a copy of the data BBC stores about you, which includes your BBC Account data and the data described above.

You have the right to ask for your data we collect to be deleted. However there are exceptions to your rights and they may be limited in some situations, for example we may refuse this request.
