Drypool Bridge in Hull city centre has reopened to motorists after being deemed safe for use.

Investigations were made of the deteriorated upper load-bearing columns by engineering specialists, Mason Clark Associates.

Hull City Council (HCC) said the bridge had the "capacity to operate safely and reopen to all traffic" whilst the repairs are arranged.

The works will begin once HCC has appointed a contractor.

The repair work will be carried out as priority, the council said.

Partial and full road closures will be in place when the works start, which are anticipated to take between three and six months.
