Two teenagers have been killed and a third is critical in hospital after a crash with a lorry in Stirling.

The male passengers in a Vauxhall Corsa, aged 17 and 19, died at the scene on the A91 between Bannockburn Interchange and Greencornhills Roundabout at about 15:50 on Sunday.

The lorry driver, aged 29, was arrested by police for a road traffic offence. He was later released.

The car driver, a 17-year-old boy, was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

He remains in a critical condition at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

Another passenger in the Vauxhall Corsa, a 17-year-old girl, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

She was treated for her injuries and later released.

Police Scotland said the road was closed for 11 hours to allow crash investigations to take place.

Road policing sergeant Elaine Scott said: "My thoughts are with everyone involved in this incident and their families and friends at this difficult time.

"We will continue to offer support as our investigation progresses.

"It's vital we establish exactly what happened here and I'm appealing to anyone who saw the crash, or either vehicle prior to it, to contact us."
