A 33-year-old Dundee man who raped two women has been jailed for seven years.

One of Daniel Robertson's victims returned home after drinking with friends but had no recollection of anything from being at a pub until waking up the next morning.

Robertson later posted a message on an online site saying he had sex with the woman when she was "steaming drunk".

Robertson was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely at the High Court in Edinburgh.

He had denied raping the woman and maintained he did not have sex with her on the night of the attack.

He was earlier found guilty of raping her at an address in an Aberdeenshire village in May 2019, while the woman was intoxicated and incapable of giving or withholding consent.

During his trial, Robertson also denied raping a second woman at an address in Dundee in December 2021 but was found guilty of the offence.

Judge Alison Stirling told Robertson: "Custody is the only appropriate disposal having regard to the serious nature of your offending."

The judge said one of the women wrote in a victim impact statement about feeling dirty since Robertson raped her and suffering flashbacks and panic attacks.
