Monmouth: Teen charged after assault on man who later died

A teenager has been charged following a serious assault on a man who has since died.

Morgan Wainewright, 19, was charged with wounding Andrew Nicholas, with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

Mr Nicholas, 43, from Poole, Dorset, was found unconscious with serious injuries in Monnow Street, Monmouth, at 01:15 BST on Sunday.

Gwent Police confirmed that Mr Nicholas had died from his serious injuries on Thursday.

Mr Wainewright, of Mid Summer Way, Monmouth, was remanded into custody by a judge at Newport Crown Court on Friday.

He is due to appear in court again later this month.
