Committee asked to halt housing plan near Princess Elizabeth Hospital

Guernsey's new political committee has been asked to stop an application to build 66 homes next to the island's hospital.
The scrutiny management committee president wrote to Policy and Resources (P&R) to withdraw their plans.
An attempt to stop development on the field, called Le Bordage Seath, was defeated in 2022.
The letter from deputy Yvonne Burford came a day after the election of a new P&R committee.
Earlier in the year, P&R and Health and Social Care argued the field had been selected for housing because it offered the quickest solution.
Since then, the States announced it had bought the land at the Braye Lodge Hotel with the intention of building new private and key worker housing.
When the proposals to protect the field were originally debated, the new President of P&R Lyndon Trott did not vote, as he was acting as presiding officer for the debate.
The committee's vice president Heidi Soulsby and external relations lead Jonathan Le Tocq voted against the plans, while deputies Bob Murray and John Gollop voted in favour of using the field for development.
Deputy Trott said one of his top priorities upon taking the role of P&R president would be to get more houses built locally.
