Guernsey Electricity made "every effort" to update those affected by a power cut on Friday, bosses say.

A fault in the high voltage network near Admiral Park at about 17:00 GMT affected users in the area and other parts of St Peter Port, the firm said.

Mike Lloyd, head of distribution, said supplies were restored by engineers by 19:15.

He added that an investigation was also under way to find out what caused the fault.

He said: "We made every effort to update those affected using social media and our dedicated customer service team remained open on Friday evening to assist customers over the telephone.

"A further detailed investigation is under way to understand the precise cause of the fault and help prevent a recurrence."
