An exhibition mapping out 100 years of table tennis in Jersey is on display at the library in St Helier.

The exhibition is part of a series of events being held to mark the centenary year of the Jersey Table Tennis Association (JTTA).

It features table tennis equipment - old and new - including bats from 1901, as well as documents from the Association's founding in 1923.

The display of memorabilia is on show at the library until 4 November.

The JTTA's centenary coordinator, Terry Shaw, said the exhibition was the result of months of research.

"We've been going down to the archive every Tuesday morning for two hours, reading through thousands of pages of minutes and articles, and picking out important points along the 100-year history of the JTTA."

Former JTTA president, Paul Routier described the Association's history as "fantastic".

"To think back a hundred years ago, people started to get together and play table tennis around the island - to achieve that - to get to a hundred years - is something we're really proud of," he said.
