Australian wicketkeeper-batter Ben McDermott will return to Hampshire for the 2024 T20 Blast.

The 29-year-old will join the Hawks for the third straight year, having helped claim the title in his first season.

The right-hander has scored 901 runs in his 32 appearances for Hampshire, making nine half-centuries.

He told the club website:, external "I've absolutely loved my time as a Hawk so far, so it was an easy decision for me to come back."

Hampshire have already announced the signings of McDermott's compatriot Michael Neser and Afghanistan paceman Naveen-ul-Haq for parts of the Blast campaign.

"We have a really exciting squad and I'm confident about our chances of having another successful season and hopefully [winning] silverware," McDermott added.

McDermott has 30 caps for Australia in white-ball cricket and recently scored 261 runs in just eight games for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash in his homeland.

Giles White, Hampshire director of cricket, said: "We are delighted that Ben is returning - a great team man and explosive with the bat; he's an integral part of our T20 plans."
