Josh Davey: Fast bowler to stay at Somerset until 2025

Somerset fast bowler Josh Davey has signed a one-year contract extension to stay at the club until the end of 2025.

The 33-year-old has taken 267 wickets in 127 matches since arriving at Taunton in 2014.

The Scotland international has 62 caps for his country and last featured at the T20 World Cup in 2022.

"Somerset has played a huge role in my cricket development and also the development of me as a person," Davey said.

"Somerset is one of the best places to play cricket in the country and the fan base is unbelievably passionate and knowledgeable. To be able to play a sport that I love in front of people who love the game so much is pretty special.

"We want to win the club's first Championship and we want to be the first to team to retain the Blast and hopefully I can contribute to making that a reality."

Davey, who plays across all formats, spent part of last season on a short-term loan with Leicestershire.

Somerset director of cricket Andy Hurry said Davey was one of the most "consistent performers" in the domestic game.

"He will continue to be an important multi-format player for us and we very much look forward to him contributing both on and off the field as we push for even more success over the next couple of seasons," Hurry said.
