  1. Sutton's predictions: Everton v Bournemouthpublished at 11:06 7 October 2023

    Sutton's predictions

Chris Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League matches again this season, against a variety of guests.

His opponents for this weekend's fixtures are YouTuber KSI and boxer Tommy Fury.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-0

I think Bournemouth are in a bit of bother this season. They've been ahead in three games without seeing any of them out, and they are leaking a lot of goals.

I get quite a lot of stick about my predictions from Cherries fans because I never predict them to win, but there is a reason for that. They still haven't won this season, so I've been right about them as well.

I like Dominic Solanke, who has scored three goals and is their top scorer, but I am not really sure what Andoni Iraola's side are trying to do in an attacking sense.

Everton are obviously struggling too, and last weekend's home defeat by Luton was a big setback for them, but I think we will see a response here.

Sean Dyche's side will be nervous after four straight defeats at Goodison Park so I am not sure they will find their shooting boots, but I think they will find a way to stop the rot.

    KSI's prediction: 2-1

    Tommy's prediction: 0-1

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite says he "can't thank the fans enough" as he commits to his future at Goodison Park with a new four-year contract.

The 21-year-old will form part of the Everton squad until end of June 2027, after first signing in January 2020.

Branthwaite has said the fans have played a significant role in his decision: "The stature of the club, how much of a family it is at Everton and how I just love playing here in front of the fans were key reasons for me signing.

"Since I joined, I’ve felt a connection with the club. The fans have been really good with me. For the first game I played, the cheer I got when my name was read out just gave me massive confidence to go out there and play my best game."

Manager Sean Dyche has started Branthwaite in the heart of his defence for each of Everton’s past five Premier League matches, something that fills the young player with confidence.

Branthwaite added: "When the manager and Kevin Thelwell have full confidence in you, it makes you feel like you’re welcome here and I know I can go on the pitch when the manager puts me out there and he has full belief in me. It’s a massive factor in signing the contract.

"Being at such a young age, it’s about progressing as a player, keep playing for this magnificent football club in front of our fans and hopefully this season pick up some good results."

Director of football Thelwell added: "Jarrad is an excellent player with huge potential and his new contract is richly deserved after the way he has played for us so far this season, having gained key experience on loan at PSV last term.

"It is a great boost for Everton to have a young player with Jarrad’s talent commit his long-term future to the club.

"His performances so far this season have impressed everyone and given a glimpse of his exciting potential. We look forward to him getting even better in the years ahead in the royal blue of Everton."
