  2. Leicester 0-1 Arsenal: What Rodgers saidpublished at 20:14 25 February 2023

Leicester manager Brendon Rodgers speaking to BBC MOTD: "It was important firstly to stay in the game, Arsenal are an outstanding team. I feel that we weren't aggressive enough in the first-half, they had a lot of the ball.

"Over the course of the game we didn't concede many opportunities. I felt that we needed to be more aggressive and have more courage with the ball."

On Leicester's league position: "We stay calm, we've been on a really difficult run of games. Our last five or six games have been real challenging games for us and we've shown enough in those to know that when we can play to our level we can win games.

"It's very tight, they're lots of good teams who are down there. We can only concentrate on ourselves and if we can do that and get our performance level to where it can be then we should be able to win the games we need."

  3. Sutton's predictions: Arsenal v Leicesterpublished at 17:54 24 February 2023

For the latest round of Premier League predictions, Chris Sutton is up against Those Damn Crows drummer Ronnie Huxford, who supports Manchester United and Wales.

    Sutton's prediction

    Sutton's prediction: 1-3

Leicester are in a relegation scrap, which is hard to understand when you consider the attacking talent they have got.

The Foxes' issue is that they are so brittle at the back, which is why I think there will be goals in this game and also why I am going to back Arsenal to win it.

I want to see a title race and I loved the way the Gunners found a way of getting the three points against Villa last week after trailing twice. They really showed their mettle, and it must have been a huge boost to their confidence.

Now they have to back it up with another win here, but I do feel their trip to King Power Stadium will be more straightforward. They will have plenty of chances, because their forwards will be able to get at the Foxes' backline.

    Ronnie's prediction: 1-3

Leicester have some brilliant players but they aren't consistent enough. You just don't know what you are going to get from them.

If you are a Manchester City or Arsenal fan you are looking over your shoulder at us. It is crazy how quickly things change in football because six months ago it was laughable to think United would be anywhere near the top four, let alone in the title race. If we don't win it from here it's not a disaster, either. The pressure is off.

  4. Leicester v Arsenal: Team newspublished at 16:24 24 February 2023

Leicester's James Maddison, who has been managing a knee injury, will be assessed ahead of the game.

Defenders Ryan Bertrand and Jonny Evans remain out with respective knee and thigh injuries.

Arsenal's top scorer Bukayo Saka is fit and midfielder Thomas Partey, who has missed the last two matches with a thigh problem, could feature.

Gabriel Jesus is making good progress after his World Cup knee injury but it is still too soon for a return.

  5. 'Joy' has returned at Leicester - Pereirapublished at 12:01 24 February 2023

Fit-again defender Ricardo Pereira says "joy has come back" at Leicester City following their return to form.

A run of three successive wins in February, only halted by a 3-0 defeat by Manchester United last week, has helped them climb to 14th in the table and four points clear of the relegation places.

The return of Portugal international Pereira following his recovery from surgery on his Achilles in the summer has also come as a significant boost to a Foxes side that had previously been hit hard by injury.

The 29-year-old also said the additions of winger Tete and defenders Harry Souttar and Victor Kristiansen have been instrumental.

"The new guys have come in and we have started winning, so that joy has come back again and the confidence that I think was lacking a little bit," Pereira told BBC East Midlands Today.

"It's good to bounce back and be in a nice environment. The team is winning, playing well and everyone is doing their best.

"We know we started [the season] really badly, but we have improved. We had quite good form before the World Cup and that was our normal, and that is what we want to get back to as we to try climb the table.

"But we have to go week by week."

  6. 'Rodgers has to play him not fully fit'published at 10:34 24 February 2023

    James MaddisonImage source, Getty Images

Ex-Leicester City striker David Nugent has questioned if England boss Gareth Southgate was right to take James Maddison to the World Cup, as the Foxes midfielder continues to struggle with a knee problem.

The 26-year-old suffered the injury against West Ham, less than two weeks before England's opening game against Iran, which prevented him having any involvement at the tournament in Qatar.

Since returning, he has only featured four times and, according to Nugent, he is having steroid injections pre-game to help play through the pain.

"It is very concerning. There is nothing worse than getting injections before a game to get you through it," Nugent told BBC Radio Leicester's When You’re Smiling podcast.

"When that runs out, the pain comes back and a bit worse than it was at the start.

"He is desperate to play for the team to get them up the table.

"He didn’t even play in the World Cup, so was there any point in him going? He could have stayed behind and we would have seen a fit Maddison for Leicester."

Maddison has scored nine goals and registered five assists in the Premier League so far this season.

Nugent added: "He is Leicester’s main man and he needs to play, otherwise they could be in a serious position come the end of the season, heading towards the relegation zone.

"He is the leading goalscorer and assist-maker, [and] so vital to this team that Brendan [Rodgers] has to play him not fully fit.

"You can see it on the pitch. He went down in the first half against Manchester United and I thought he was injured again, but he just managed to get through it.

"Everything is built through Maddison. He needs to play for Leicester to pick up three points."

Last week we asked our fan community writer to pick a cult hero for your club and Marc Albrighton got the nod.

It sparked debate so we asked you for your choice. Here are some of your selections:

John: Big cult heroes over the years. Ian Ormondroyd, Sol Bamba and Frank Sinclair. They are in the 'not very good but they give their all and we love them' category. Steve Walsh has to be the ultimate cult hero tough and is Leicester through and through. His name is sung on the terraces years after his retirement. He must be challenged by Jamie Vardy too as he's a higher level.

Mike: Wee David Gibson was the ultimate LCFC hero. He ended up delivering mail in Leicester. Albrighton, Gibson. Speak their names quietly. They are LCFC DNA.

R: Andy King. Brilliant player from League One to the Premier League.

Chappo: It's Jamie Vardy. No contest, no question.

  9. Rodgers on Maddison, Motson and Arsenalpublished at 14:04 23 February 2023

Brendan Rodgers has been speaking to the media before Leicester’s Premier League game against Arsenal on Saturday.

Here are the key lines from his news conference:

    • James Maddison is still nursing a knee injury which still needs to be assessed, Ryan Bertrand is a "bit off match fitness" but is training with the squad and Youri Tielemans is a "good option" after training well. Rodgers hopes Jonny Evans can "join in next week" with training, but there is still no timescale with his injury.

    • On having more options off the bench, he said: "That opportunity to change the game by having players available is very important. It should give us really good problems as a manager."

    • Rodgers paid tribute to legendary commentator John Motson following his death: "When I first moved into management at Watford, John knew my assistant very well, and we had contact. He was very supportive of a young manager. I was always grateful for that. His knowledge was exceptional. It’s sad news."

    • On implementing a football regulator, he said: "It’s critical we protect the culture and history of football in this country, at all levels. We’ve seen clubs go out of business. That should not happen to famous clubs. There’s an opportunity to digest everything. It’s going to give supporters that reassurance that their clubs are in good hands."

    • Rodgers said Mikel Arteta has done a "fantastic job" but "there is still a long way to go" to win the title, adding: "You sensed at the beginning of the season that they had signed two game-changers in terms of mentality. Tierney on the bench because of Zinchenko shows the quality of the squad. [Bringing in] Zinchenko and Jesus changes the mindset, and with Saliba coming in, he’s very good."

    • On the game against the Gunners, he said: "Both teams want to play. That’s the identity of Mikel and myself, to create and score goals. You have to be mindful of the quality. You have to defend well, track runners, be competitive, and then you have to believe in your football to score goals. It should be a fantastic game."
