Cardiff Devils slipped to a frustrating 1-0 defeat at Coventry Blaze in the Elite League.
A tight contest remained scoreless until Johnny Curran fired Coventry ahead 66 seconds into the third period.
And Blaze held on at the Skydome Arena to end their four-game losing run, with defeat being Cardiff's second in three outings.
Devils return to action against Nottingham Panthers on Saturday, with Coventry facing Fife Flyers.
