Gloucester have announced the signing of Wales fly-half Gareth Anscombe for the 2024-25 Premiership season.

The 32-year-old, who has 37 caps, has been a free agent since his registration with Japanese club Tokyo Suntory Sungoliath was cancelled at the end of 2023 because of a groin injury.

"We're really pleased to bring in a player of his experience," director of rugby George Skivington said.

"He's a top fly-half and we feel he'll complement our group well."

Anscombe started his career in his native New Zealand before moving to Cardiff Blues in 2014, making his Wales debut through his Welsh mother a year later, then spending four seasons at Ospreys from 2019.

At Gloucester he will link up with Wales scrum-half Tomos Williams, who has also committed to the Cherry and Whites for next season.

Anscombe, who can also cover at full-back, will join up with the Gloucester squad in the summer.
