BBC sees interim report on Victoria Square structural failures

The BBC sees an interim report on structural failures at Belfast’s Victoria Square.

In the interim findings the authors claim that a column at the troubled residential development was “constructed using concrete that was understrength by some 75%”.

They go on to say tests on more than a dozen other columns suggest they are also understrength, although to a lesser degree.

The interim report says too much water and too little cement was used in the mix for some of the concrete used at the site, and say the failings pose "a serious health and safety issue".

However the authors make clear the need for further tests.
