Glamorgan have been dealt a double injury blow in the run-up to the new season.

Opening bat Eddie Byrom and opening bowler Timm van der Gugten will both be missing when Glamorgan face Middlesex at Lord's on Friday, 5 April.

Byrom dislocated a shoulder in training, while van der Gugten is suffering from a calf injury.

Byrom's accident continues his bad luck with fitness, after a freak hip injury in 2023 and an infection in 2022.

Meanwhile former Northants player Toby Bailey has been added to the coaching staff on a short-term basis before rejoining Scotland for the T20 World Cup in June.

Bailey, 47, will be reunited with new head coach Grant Bradburn after the pair worked together in Scotland.

Mark Walton, one of Matthew Maynard's assistants, has switched back to football with a scouting role for West Ham United.

Walton's playing career in goal featured spells with Cardiff City, Brighton and Hove Albion and Fulham.

Glamorgan's annual general meeting of members also ratified the appointment as president of former player Alan Wilkins, who went on to become a BBC Wales TV sports presenter.
