Blackpool midfielder Andy Lyons is set for an extended period out of action after suffering a serious knee injury during their defeat by Leyton Orient.

The 23-year-old was stretchered off during the Tangerines' 1-0 League One loss at Orient on 27 February.

He pulled up while chasing the ball shortly after coming on as a second-half substitute.

Boss Neil Critchley said on Thursday that Lyons had suffered an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament.

Defeat against Leyton Orient left the club in ninth position and six points outside the play-off positions.

Lyons has made a total of 25 appearances for the club this season, scoring twice.
