Three-time Premiership title winner Tobiasz Musielak is excited at the prospect of being team leader for new club King's Lynn Stars.

The Polish rider helped Sheffield Tigers reach last season's grand final, but missed the two-leg win over Ipswich Witches with a broken leg.

King's Lynn start the 2024 Premiership away to Leicester Lions on Thursday.

"It's the first time in my life being skipper," Stars number one Musielak told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"It wasn't my decision leaving Sheffield, but if I had to, I wasn't sure if I'd come back to England. Then I had the call from King's Lynn; we had a nice conversation, and I'm here.

"Everyone wants to be the leader. I hope all the guys think positive and think this way."

The Stars finished bottom of the seven-team Premiership last year with only four wins in their 24 matches.

But Rob Lyon has rejoined the team from Peterborough Panthers - who are not racing this season - as team manager and co-promoter, and during his previous spell in charge, they won the Premier League title in 2006 and 2009, as well as the Division Two KO Cup and Premier Trophy.

"If we do the average we want then we can achieve good things," said Musielak.

"We want to get back to winning ways. This club deserves better times and we want to bring it back."

Ben Basso, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Michael Palm Toft, Anders Rowe, Vadim Tarasenko and Patryk Wojdylo make up the rest of the Stars roster.

Musielak added: "We will be focused every single match and try to do our best. That's normal, but it's never easy.

"I think we have a really good team and we are going to show our fans that we can really do a great job."
