A baby girl has been seriously injured in a dog attack and is in critical condition in Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. The girl, who is under two years old, was attacked by a family dog at her home in Cheltenham on the evening of Sunday, April 14.

She was initially taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital but was later transferred to Bristol due to the gravity of her condition. Gloucestershire Police are seeking further information about the attack.

Police and paramedics were called to a property in he Hatherley area of Cheltenham just before 6pm on Sunday. The dog, which is described as a large breed, has been seized by police.

The dog is currently being held in a secure kennel while investigations re ongoing. Police officers have confirmed that the dog is not a banned breed.

Gloucestershire Constabulary said: "Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to get in touch with police by completing the following this online form and quoting incident 337 of 14 April."
