A large fire has broken out at an Evri warehouse in Avonmouth this afternoon (Tuesday, April 16). Locals working and living in the area have been advised by the fire service to keep their doors and windows closed as firefighters battle the blaze.

Footage from the scene shows an enormous cloud of black smoke pluming out from the delivery company's distribution centre on Boundary Road. It is not currently known when the fire broke out, or what the cause of it is but there is a large response from Avon Fire and Rescue.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue told BristolLive: “We’re currently in attendance at a warehouse fire in Avonmouth. We would advise people living or working in the local area to close their doors and windows."

At the time of reporting, 16 fire engines are at the scene of the fire. One eyewitness said smoke could be seen from Blaise Castle.

A recent view from M5 traffic cam looking northbound at junction 19 for Avonmouth also showed heavy smoke pouring across the carriage.
