Housebuilders with developments in Yate donated £127,500 to charities in the South West last year.
Each year, Barrat Homes Bristol and Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, provides funding for charities and organisations across the region.
Bristol and Wales Cat Rescue received financial help after donations dried up during the cost of living crisis. The Nailsea charity rescues, fosters and rehomes hundreds of cats every year that have been badly treated, abandoned or are unwanted across the South West and Wales and volunteers are typically asked to take in around six cats every day. The non-destruction charity will take in any cat and its vet bills are around £10,000 every month.
Margaret Brittan is one of the volunteers. She said: “Donations are incredibly important and every penny will be used to fill hungry bellies, buy equipment to set up foster homes for the 150 cats that depend on us or pay costly vet bills.
“Worrying constantly about finances and fundraising is emotionally draining on top of all the other issues of dealing with sick, injured and traumatised animals. This donation eased the pressure for us – it’s come as a huge morale boost and genuinely does feel like a weight has been lifted from our shoulders.”

Every month, each Barratt David Wilson Homes division can donate £1,500 to a local concern that works to improve the quality of life for those living in their area.
