Residents in Yate have successfully raised over £400 for the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) through a series of fundraising events.

The donation was made following the news that GWAAC had assisted 1,979 people in urgent need last year. The charity provides critical care and air ambulance services to 2.1 million people across Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, North Somerset, and some parts of Wiltshire.

GWAAC's Critical Care Team comprises highly trained and experienced Critical Care Doctors, Advanced Practitioners, and Specialist Paramedics in Critical Care. They bring the skills and expertise of a hospital emergency department to the patient.

The team is needed by an average of five patients a day, and each mission by helicopter or critical care car costs around £2,000. The charity needs to raise over £4 million annually to remain operational, yet it receives no day-to-day funding from the Government or National Lottery.

Joe Hughes, the strategic partnerships manager at Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, stated that "As our mission numbers steadily increase each year, it's increasingly important that we maintain the support of those in our communities. The money raised by the residents at Ladden Garden Village in Yate will have a real impact on our ability to continue with our lifesaving work in the region."

Andrea Pilgrim, sales director for Barratt Homes Bristol, added: "There's a strong sense of community spirit throughout the Ladden Garden Village development. I'm pleased our residents raised such a significant amount to help the charity sustain their operations and continue with their vital role as part of the region's emergency medical services."

Louise Ware, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, concluded: "I'd like to extend a huge 'well done' to our community-minded residents whose funding will help a team that goes above and beyond to ensure the safety and well-being of people in our local area."
