Technology retail giant Currys is to create more than 1,100 permanent and temporary jobs as it gears up for the busy run-in to the end of the year. Around 720 temporary jobs will be on offer across the firm's stores in the UK and Ireland as well as 370 permanent positions and 120 driver roles.

Currys said the recruitment drive would support the business through its busiest time of the year - the period leading up to Black Friday through to the January sales.

Paula Coughlan, director of people, communications and sustainability at Currys, said: "We're delighted to be making over a thousand vacancies available ahead of this year's peak trading period."
