August may be just around the corner, but it feels like autumn has come early due to the recent weather we've been experiencing. After a balmy and blissful June, July has brought with it drab clouds, lashings of rain and high winds - the sort of conditions you'd expect in January, not the supposed "warmest month of the year". So, maybe it makes sense for confectionery giant Mars to launch Milky Way Hot Chocolate today.

With many of us forced to bin off barbecues and picnics with friends, we've gone back inside to keep warm. Sundresses have been ditched for jumpers, and summer holidays have been dampened by rain and cloud. It is hot chocolate weather.

You may have even reverted back to your winter diet, keeping warm with stodgy meals and hot drinks, rather than burgers and hot dogs. But your spirit might be lifted by the exciting new chocolatey addition to the shelves of Home Bargains and B&M that could really lift up your mood on these less-than-summery days.

As of today, hot chocolate lovers can enjoy the delicious taste of Milky Way in a mug. With a light, creamy, chocolatey flavour, the new Milky Way Hot Chocolate has been described as "out of this world" although this description comes from makers Mars as we've not had chance to try it yet. But we will. Oh yes, you just try and stop us!

Chocolate connoisseurs can get their hands on the heavenly beverage at B&M and Home Bargains from today, July 27. All they have to do is add three to four teaspoons to a cup, add hot water, stir and enjoy.

Milky Way lovers, rejoice!

Sold as the 3 Musketeers in the US and Canada, Milky Way has been a favourite chocolate bar amongst many since it was first brought into the world back in 1932. Whilst Milky Way refers to a British Mars bar-like chocolate bar in the US and Canada, the international version of Milky Way floats in milk due to its low density, which has been used as a selling point in several countries throughout Europe.

Originally sold in Europe with a chocolate flavour nougat centre, this was changed to a vanilla flavour in the early 1990s, although Australians can still get their hands on the original version. What a lot of Milky Way lovers may not know is the fact that the beloved chocolate bar has previously been available in banana, mango, and strawberry flavours which seemingly did not take off with chocolate lovers.
