Bristol City Under-21s ended a four-match winless run with a 3-1 victory over Hull City at Ashton Gate in a chaotic games littered with errors from both sides.
Callum Hutton, Jamie Knight-Lebel and Marley Rose were the goalscorers for the Robins while the Tigers responded through a Raph Araoye own goal while the hosts lost goalkeeper Josey Casa Grande to a late red card.
City secured a 1-0 lead in the first half as Hutton finished from close range after Hull goalkeeper Owen Foster made a mess of a clearance, miskicking straight to the young forward.
But the Robins also missed chances through Hutton, Olly Thomas and Rose to extend their lead.
They were made to pay early in the second period as Tyrell Sellars-Fleming found space through the middle of the City defence and as Knight-Lebel and Araoye got back to make a block the ball cannoned off one and onto another, beating Casa Grande.
Knight-Lebel headed City back into the lead when he met Rose's inswinging free-kick and delivered a powerful finish in front of Robins head coach Liam Manning who watched on from the stands.
Hull were having continual issues playing out from the back with several near misses in terms of the hosts winning the ball in vulnerable areas but City's third was a well-crafted goal as Tommy Backwell's pass cut through the Tigers backline and Rose checked back onto his left foot before finding the corner.
Further chances came and went for the Robins amid some bad touches and errant back-passes. Casa Grande then departed in the closing stages as he misjudged a long ball forward and accidentally handled the ball as he left his area to deny Hull what could have been a second.

City change
Joe Duncan replaces Churchley for the final few minutes, taking his place in goal.
Casa-Grande sent off!
The comedy of errors continues as Casa-Grande leaves his box to make a clearance, gets his bearings and timing all wrong and ends up palming it over his head, because the ball was going to bounce over him.
He was halfway to the tunnel before referee Oliver Mackey raised the red card.
Churchley chips straight at Foster
Hutton slips the City forward through the middle and witH Foster out of his goal he tries to lift a finish over the goalkeeper but it ends up being a comfortable catch.
Hull should score
It's Kadji's turn to misplace a pass out from the back and as he loses possession it drops to Coyle who tries to test Casa-Grande but his effort is blocked.
Brown strikes the crossbar!
The Hull winger has been lively and he moves infield, ignoring the run to his left and he curls one over Casa-Grande, beating the City keeper but striking the top of the crossbar.
Comical stuff
There are so many errors out there. Hull are really struggling to play out from the back, constantly putting Foster under pressure.
Just then, Bell hacks a clearance against the back of Sellars-Fleming and it nearly leads to a goal.
Horrible finish
It was a fantastic pass by Greene to set Sellars-Fleming between the two City centre-backs again but he got his feet all wrong and screwed a shot well wide of the post.
Casa-Grande saves from Brown
The Hull winger cuts onto his right foot and, while falling over, gets a shot away which forces a flying save from Casa-Grande.
It should be four!
It's another disaster for Hull as a ball back to Foster is played straight to Thomas. The City striker almost wasn't expecting it and had to quickly turn and shoot with the Tigers keeper making the save.
Casa-Grande fine to continue
The City keeper is back on his feet and we're back underway.
Casa-Grande down injured
Brown got behind the City defence and Leeson did well to throw him off stride and prevent a shot getting away.
Casa-Grande darted out to save at the Hull winger's feet and has hurt himself in the process.
City change
Knight-Lebel leaves the field for Max Davies. You wonder if he's in line for some minutes on Saturday...
(Or possibly because he also played for the 21s on Saturday against Swansea).
More on the goal
Backwell bisected the Hull defence with a wonderful pass which had Rose running into space. The forward shaped to shoot from a tight angle with his right foot but then checked back onto his left, leaving the defender for dead, before steadying himself and aiming a finish into the corner.
GOAL! Bristol City 3-1 Hull (Rose)
Brilliant goal! Fine pass from Backwell and an excellent finish.
Nearly an own goal
Thomas breaks down the left from Churchley's fine pass, turns back onto his right foot and tries to pick out Hutton.
Palit was running back to goal to cover and the cross strikes him on the shin and cannons goalwards with Foster managing to catch it. A yard either side and that would have been a goal.
GOAL! Bristol City 2-1 Hull (Knight-Lebel)
It's a brilliant ball into the box by Rose from a free-kick towards the right touchline, full of pace and whip, and Knight-Lebel dives forward to head home.
More on the goal
Space opened up for Hull and Brown got inside of Leeson and rolled a through-ball between Knight-Lebel and Araoye for Sellars-Fleming to accelerate into the space.
Both centre-backs got back to make a challenge but the ball cannoned off Knight-Lebel and then onto Araoye as he sprinted backwards, beating Casa-Grande and flying into the net.
GOAL! Bristol City 1-1 Hull (Araoye, own goal)
Oh no! The Tigers are back level and its unlucky for the City defender but the Robins also have themselves to blame.
Half-time! Bristol City 1-0 Hull
The whistle goes and the Robins find themselves a goal up and, in truth, it should have been more with Olly Thomas, Marley Rose and Callum Hutton all having good chances to add to the latter's opener.
Liam Manning and Chris Hogg are both in attendance, watching the game from the Lansdown Lower.
Wasted opportunity!
It's another loose pass in defence and Thomas has the ball, 20 yards out and with Rose to his right but he mucks the pass up and it's far too close to Foster.
Devine breaks forward
The Hull left-back makes a strong run into the penalty area and tries to teest Casa-Grande but Araoye sticks a leg across to block.
Rose lifts the ball wide
That should have been 2-0. Everyone was expecting an offside flag as Rose ran through the middle of the defence to bring down a long clearance, but it never came.
The City No11 then lifted a finish over Foster as he rushed out of his goal but it drifted well wide of the post.
Covil nearly gets free
Ashbee delivers a fine crossfield ball out of defence for Hull and Covil had ghot between Knight-Lebel and Araoye but can't bring the ball down.
An interesting slice of trivia about Owen Foster
I thought I recognised that name and, indeed, Hull keeper Owen Foster was in goal for Scunthorpe when they lost 7-0 at Rovers in 2022.
Foster saves from Thomas
The Hull keeper saves with his chest following an attempt from outside the area.
