A crazy golf venue and bar hopes to open on the site of a former Wilko shop in Bristol. Golf Fang, which describes itself as an 'ode to street art, its writers and its origins' combines 'seriously crazy golf, cocktails, DJs, and street food in an art infused environment', according to its website.
It dubs itself a 'Sprayground' and a 'Graffiti Cathedral', and currently boasts venues in locations such as Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle, and Sheffield. Each of its sites requires a minimum of 12,000 square feet of space, and the unit it hopes to fill - on Union Street - is situated across three floors, making it an ideal candidate for Golf Fang's new location.
The Wilko on Union Street closed its doors back in October 2023. The high street retailer went into administration and all stores closed earlier in the autumn.

The brand and its website were bought by the company that owns another retail giant, The Range. Back in November 2023, BristolLive reported that there were plans to reopen a Wilko store in Bristol, though it was not confirmed as to where that would be.
Golf Fang say: "We provide the 'Graff Writers' with golf courses built into weird and wonderful designs such as buses, shop fronts, film studios and pubs… the list is endless and nothing is off limits. Our venues require a minimum of 12,000 square feet of space for collective and creative freedom.
"This provides our guests with an exciting collaboration of productions that inspire and hopefully change negative opinions about the art form. It allows authentic street writers to express themselves without damaging property or getting into trouble with authorities.
"We combine each street artist's work with tailored lighting and exciting scenery. Golf Fang is a mind-blowing explosion of colour and weirdness. We love what we do and we have an amazing production team and workshop where our visions come to life! Golf Fang has had hundreds of authentic street artists from all over the world express themselves on our walls and back drops."
