Police are hunting for a gang who allegedly stole £200,00 worth of jewellery from a passenger aboard a train to Edinburgh.

The incident happened just before 7pm on December 14 when the victim boarded a train heading towards Edinburgh at Kings Cross railway station and was followed by a small group of people.

After the victim placed their bag down, two of the group distracted the victim whilst another person snatched the bag and left the train.

British Transport Police (BTP) have now released images of six individuals in connection with the theft. Officers believe the people in the images may have information that could help with their investigation and are asking members of the public to come forward to identify them.

BTP said: "Anyone who recognises them is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 691 of 14 December 2023.

"Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
