Roadworks on a vital Rayleigh road are causing knock-on delays and disruption for motorists leaving the town and Southend

Emergency roadworks on Websters Way mean the road is closed in both directions between Eastwood Road and High Street / Hockley Road.

Drivers are facing reported delays of more than 12 minutes, with delays increasing for drivers leaving Eastwood and driving westbound.

Delays of more than five minutes are being reported as drivers attempt to join the A127 from Rayleigh.

Rayleigh Town Council has said Websters Way is currently closed in both directions.

They say this is due to emergency works, and therefore there was no advanced warning of this closure.

Websters Way car park can still be accessed when approaching from Bull Lane / Holy Trinity direction.

Rayleigh Town Council add: “Websters Way is currently closed due to emergency electrical work.

“Currently traffic cannot dive down Websters Way from Eastwood Road to Hockley Road in either direction.
