THE brothers behind a Worcestershire cheesecake business are up for a food award and hope have big plans if they are lucky enough to win.

The Watson Kitchen, owned by brothers Dan and Harry Watson, needs votes to win the Best food/drink producer in Worcestershire and Gloucestershire category with £5,000 up for grabs.

Dan and Harry started the business, which specialises in cheesecakes, around three years ago towards the end of lockdown and said they are shocked at the level of support they have since received.

The Astley-based duo, who claim not to have any previous professional experience, have "a passion for creative deserts".

Dan said: "We both like cake and we saw a gap in the market.

"We saw people doing regular cakes, cookies, brownies, but nobody was making cheesecakes.

"So we put our heads together and it's just blown up.

"We are so thankful for everything, we have even won a global recognition award.

"When we started I had no belief and it was more of a side hobby, but it's unbelievable, we have had so much support and it's amazing how loyal people are."

The brothers make a new menu every six weeks based on seasonal trends, and supply businesses such as restaurants and coffee shops across Worcestershire as well as attending a variety of events.

With the winners of the Muddy Stilettos Award will receive £5,000, Mr Watson said: "The voting is going really well and there are a lot of other great businesses that we are up against but we are just trying to make the final push to be the winner."

Voting ends at 1pm on Wednesday, April 18, with people being able to vote at glosworcs.muddystilettos.co.uk/awards/vote

"It's always been a goal of mine to open a coffee shop even before we were in the running for this award but now there is even more of a reason."

The Watson Kitchen is currently up against Cherry Moo, Little Grazey, Piston Distillery and Poulton Hill Estate.
