"I loved the room with the sound equipment - the soundboard was full of detail" - Moby, Year 6 "Going to the TV centre was a wonderful experience. What really shocked me was when we sat on a sofa which the one and only Elton John sat on" - Abdulqadir, Year 6 From celebrity encounters to our studio equipment, there’s something for everyone at Television Centre! Last week we hosted the fantastic pupils of Old Oak Primary School, who had a great time exploring our facilities and learning about the industry. Experienced Leading Teacher, Learning Specialist, Head of Performing Arts, Production Manager, Educator, Director, Producer and Performer
Practice what you teach! It holds immense importance to consistently nurture your creative mind, fostering fresh ideas, and embracing a comprehensive approach that fosters a sense of community. In the aftermath of a prolonged period of social isolation, community theatre plays a vital role in assisting individuals who may be particularly susceptible to developing issues like social withdrawal. Theatre has proven to be an effective tool in inspiring individuals, fostering critical thinking, and empowering them to cultivate a positive and fulfilling life. Gaining a practical understanding of being part of a creative community is essential for shaping your priorities and intentions when establishing a school creative arts program that extends far beyond a mere performance. It enables you to envision a comprehensive initiative that goes beyond the surface level, encompassing a broader scope and impact. #performingarts #communityarts

As I started my new role as a CAPS Instructor in August, and for the past 4 months, many have been asking me, "What is CAPS?" Although I find it easy to articulate, many have a hard time grasping the concept. People are baffled by my description because it goes against the traditional norms of education. "You meet outside of the school?!" "They work with companies?" "Employers take them seriously?" It's all true, and if you want a good look at what CAPS is all about, and the impact it is having on students throughout the country, I recommend watching, "Where Students Lead" from the CAPS Network. This documentary perfectly illustrates what CAPS is all about, and the power it can have on the future of education. I'll just add, the CAPS philosophy and practice is making waves across the world. From asking elementary students big questions like what problems do you want to solve, to having high school students sign NDAs and help major companies tackle big issues, CAPS is changing the way we guide young individuals to pursue meaningful work and their purpose. If you haven't heard of CAPS, you should learn more, and this documentary will help you do just that. Check it out. #CAPS #CAPSnetwork #meaningfulwork #pursuepurpose #findingpurpose #careerdevelopment #cedarvalleycaps #CFCaps #documentary #education #authenticlearning #durableskills
