Muslim communities are more likely to face risks to their mental health - but less likely to access effective support. For instance, Muslims have lower recovery rates when accessing NHS Talking Therapies, and 1 in 5 people told The Lantern Initiative they felt judged or dismissed as a Muslim by formal counselling. This has to change.
Our new fact sheet highlights the urgent need to tackle the stark inequalities in Muslims’ access to, experience of and outcomes from mental health services 👇
We're calling for investment in faith-informed, culturally competent mental health services, and for the NHS to work more closely with Muslim-led organisations which are often more trusted and already providing effective faith-informed support.
