Exhilarated to present my selected abstract as a poster on "Curing Childhood Cancer with Limited Resources" at SIOP Asia 2023. As a medical student, it is an immense honor to be able to be a part of this important project. We delve into the unique challenges faced by developing countries in the field of pediatric oncology. In developed nations, 4 out of 5 children with cancer achieve remission, but the situation is distinctly different in other parts of the world. Armenia, a low-to-middle-income country, has made remarkable progress in pediatric oncology, nearing high-income countries' survival rates. Through this study, we analyze diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for pediatric solid tumors and malignant blood disorders, assessing the outcomes of patients treated in Armenia from 2008-2022. I would like to thank Dr. Ruzanna Papyan and Dr. Gevorg Tamamyan for providing this opportunity to explore strategies for optimizing care despite limited resources. 📢 Excited to share our paper on the predictive significance of pretreatment 18F-FDG PET volumetric parameters in pediatric patients with locally advanced undifferentiated nasopharyngeal carcinoma! 🎉 Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a rare pediatric cancer, often diagnosed at advanced stages. Identifying patients at higher risk of treatment failure is crucial for tailored approaches. Our retrospective study examined 32 pediatric patients who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT prior to initial treatment. It highlights the potential of WB-MTV parameters as significant prognostic factors for disease progression in pediatric patients with locally advanced undifferentiated NPC. However, larger prospective studies are needed for validation. Kudos to the entire team for their dedication and contribution to improving outcomes in pediatric oncology. 🙌 Ismail Elantably Mohamed Zaghloul Link to the paper: https://lnkd.in/ebBsK8zD #PediatricOncology #PediatricCancerResearch #NasopharyngealCarcinoma #PETImaging #OncologyResearch #RarePediatricTumors #57357
