We believe that everyone deserves a safe online experience.    As we continue to develop the codes of practice that tech firms will have to follow to protect their users under the Online Safety Act, it's vital we get feedback from a range of communities on their online experiences.   That’s why our online safety experts recently visited Grapevine Cov and Warks in Coventry to meet a group of inspiring disabled activists. Here we heard about the issues they feel need to be tackled to help the disabled community live safer lives online.   A big thank you to Coventry Youth Activists for hosting us and the insights shared by their members and other groups will play a key role in informing our online safety work.   🎥 Hear some of the insights from the group in this video.

🚨 We've launched an investigation into whether OnlyFans is doing enough to prevent children accessing porn on its site. Having reviewed responses to formal information requests, we have grounds to suspect OnlyFans did not implement its age verification measures in a way that sufficiently protects under-18s. Under existing rules that pre-date the Online Safety Act, video-sharing platforms established in the UK must take appropriate action to prevent children accessing adult content. Today we have set out our proposed three-year media literacy plan to support people in navigating the online world. From being able to spot misinformation and disinformation, to knowing how to protect personal data - having the skills to be able to explore content safely and flourish online is so important in today's world. Our three-year media literacy strategy explains how we will be stepping up our media literacy work over the coming years, including: ✅Understanding the most effective actions platforms can take to support their users. ✅ Expanding our partnership work with expert organisations to deliver help to those who need it most - including those in financially disadvantaged communities. ✅Continuing to research, evaluate and share insights on which media literacy initiatives work best and why. 🚨 Ahead of the next General Election, we're sending a clear warning to broadcasters to maintain the highest standards of impartiality - particularly those who use politicians as presenters. Today we've published qualitative research to explore audiences’ expectations of due impartiality. We found that: 📰 Audiences welcome existing restrictions preventing politicians from presenting news content. 🎙️ Views on politicians presenting current affairs programmes are mixed, but while there are concerns, there's no clear consensus for an outright ban. ⚖️ Due impartiality is strongly valued by audiences in news programming. 🔗 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/dqbm_C_E #Broadcast #Politics #TV
