I don’t feel alone in being indecisive (and a little bit scared) about picking our office working policy. Fully remote? Far too fragmented to get anything done together. Celebrating big wins on a zoom call… feels very 2020. Five days a week? No. How will we get our washing done? And what about those back to back v/c days? Hot desking? Great, but I think we’re starting to annoy the sh*t out of people around us when we’re shouting and sharing information. It’s taken us 1,675 days of trial and error to figure out that we’re ‘in office’-three-consecutive-days-a-week together. BUT, just saying that isn’t enough. I truly believe that it’s our responsibility to make the office a place that people WANT to be in. And if 2015 taught us anything… it’s not all drinks trolleys and ping pong tables. Here’s what we’re doing so far: 🍅 We have a pomodoro society. A 25 minute sprint sessions together to whatever weird beats that feel right - yesterday was Barry can’t swim then Barry White made a brief 25 second appearance. (You’re welcome) 🖤We have ‘the unknown way’ sessions. Where we spend 45 mins sharing how each of us get our best stuff done. 🧖🏽♂️ We have ClassPass for people that wanna workout before during or after the day. (There’s rumour of a bigphat soho house gym being built underneath us too 🥲) 👃 We have a flipping scent diffuser that pumps out eucalyptus and mint. (I KNOW!!) Nothing too major there yet. (Apart from the vinyl logos we ordered for seventy whole quid.) We’re on a mission to build a business of healthy, happy, high performing, high earning people that make a disproportionate dent in how creative businesses hire the people that move their businesses forward. I don’t care about size. I just care about us being f*cking awesome at what we do, having a lot of fun when we’re doing it, and as always, this has to look, sound, smell and feel nothing like a traditional recruitment company. Five degrees away from where we and our clients were. Always. And thank you thank you thank you to Georgia Barretta for the logo that I still absolutely adore.
Ollie Scott I think the last paragraph is a belter. You keep that as your MO - you'll be set!! 👏👏
This is so so awesome! Ollie what you’re describing here is a workplace that strengthens relationships, elevates performance and improves wellbeing. All by increasing cues of safety for people’s nervous systems(choice, context and connection). This is incredibly impressive and clearly a brilliant way to look after your people and clients. I look forward to hearing more.
Thanks for sharing, its a constrant trial and error to get this right. Reading your post made me really feel what you were trying to do. Love the last paragraph.
KPI’s (I mean OKR’s) and 3 days in the office… steady on, Ollie…
Sounds like you and the team have well cracked the work environment conundrum - sounds Fab (except the Barry White moment) ✨💫✨
Sounds like a recipe for continued success, Ollie. P.s you’re very welcome ;)
Seems a lot more tolerant then the work environment I remember well done 👍
Awesome people, doing awesome things, the awesome (Unknown) way…. Making a serious impact in the market. Love it.
2015 😝😝😝
