This is what I did to kickstart my professional network 👇 If you're interested in getting new perspectives in your feed - even if you're studying or already in the industry - hopefully this can be something for you! I did this while studying at KTH, and it gave me 3 interviews without actually applying for a job 🤷♀️ I set up a routine: Everyday I were to add 3 people to my network at LinkedIn. ✨ 1 frontend developer ✨ 1 UX designer/researcher ✨ 1 female developer (During that time I was still torn between frontend and UX - now I do neither 😂 ) I from time to time also added the CEO of companies I liked. I found them just by searching for "frontend developer" and added them with a note that "I'd love to learn from people within your line of work, happy to connect :)" 3 people a day, makes at least 1095 contacts in a year. Now THAT'S connections - and imagine what can be done with it! 🔥 #womenintech #tech #networking

Is there such a thing as the perfect front-end engineer? This is one of the most interesting roles to me — maybe because it takes more patience than I have… It’s a special talent to write code – CSS, HTML, etc. – that brings a design to life and then connect it to the back-end system. The best people for this role… 💥 Care about details: They take the time and care to make the experience pixel-perfect. 💥 Think deeply: Even though they’re not designers, they understand the designer psyche and why they created an experience a certain way. 💥 Understand the intended product user: They take all of the above and turn it into code that keeps the user in mind. Think accessibility, audience nuances, etc. The people that stand out to me in this role drive excellence in everything they do. #saas #engineering #product #innovation #tech

I am looking for a very senior web UI engineer. This needs to be someone who knows React quite well, and who is passionate about UX and web UI. So far, that descrip is pretty generic. I know it might trigger lots of responses from UI engineers and from recruiters, but I need to filter, so please take seriously each of the following requirements: 1. At least 15 years of experience focused on UIs, with at least 5-10 years of it being hard-core web UI, heavily oriented toward React. I don't want Angular experts or UI engineers who have mostly done mobile, with a little bit of web UI here and there, and I don't want someone who's just young and talented. I need battlescars and years of perspective with web React. 2. Superb communication and leadership skills. This person will be part of a team. They MUST raise the vision and skill level of other engineers. They MUST be a good reader, writer, and speaker of English. They must be friendly, patient, and cooperative, not a prima donna. They MUST also listen to product management stakeholders and do what those people *deeply intend*, not just what they may literally say in a jira ticket. Being good at knowing when to push back, and knowing how to push back, and being good at reading between the lines, and anticipating where the UI should go based on a long-term vision, is critical here. See zen level 4 in this blog post: https://lnkd.in/e7Q7nmNu 3. A passion for finding principled solutions for hard UX problems, not just cranking out stuff. 4. Someone who can overlap most of every work day with people on the US East coast. When I say "most of every work day" I am not talking about 3 or 4 hours of overlap as is common for people 9-15 hours east of US East coast, and I am not talking about having one or two days a week where someone works later to maximize an overlap that is less on other days. I am talking about overlapping 6-8 hours Mon-Fri with people in New York and Florida. I think I could believe that this is the case for someone who lives anywhere in the Western Hemisphere, and maybe for someone who lives in western Europe or parts of Africa and is willing to work late every day, but I am dubious about it being true if someone lives east of, say, UTC+1. 5. You want to be a full-time employee of a startup (with its corresponding pros, like equity, and cons, like uncertainty), in an interesting problem domain that involves cybersecurity, organizational identity, and hardcore UX/UI issues, and you are willing to make a multi-year commitment to the right opportunity. I didn't say the person had to be cheap. I have described an expensive engineer, and I imagine I might get what I pay for. If these requirements match you or someone you know, please reach out to me at my provenant email, daniel AT <that company> dot net, not on LinkedIn. I'll judge communication skills by your email...
