Back in my day, we called this PPV (pay per view). 👀 Mike Tyson will be fighting YouTuber to boxer, Jake Paul, streamed live on Netflix. Just part of my ongoing discussions on how everything billed as new is just an older business model revolved into a new distribution vehicle. In this case, Netflix is including this boxing spectacle (sorry, match) FREE as included in the price of its subscription to keep subscribers sticky. That's fascinating as compared to PPV's cost with Ultimate Fighting Championship charging $79.99 per fight. Now, it's not apples to apples as Tyson is mostly a retired fighter and Paul is an influencer turned into a boxer but still, quite the difference in pricing strategy here. For the record, I worked on the now R.I.P. HBO Boxing for a bit (yay Punchforce) and even though Jason Cohen could really never quite explain it all to me, it was a very valuable revenue line for HBO. Any thoughts on this J? Fast channels?
