Coronation Street fans were left slightly confused by the 'addition' to Roy Cropper's prison cell as he appeared to 'expose' the real culprit in the Lauren Bolton case. As fans of the ITV soap know, the beloved cafe owner is currently behind bars after being charged with the teen's murder.

Lauren suddenly disappeared on February 23 following weeks of unusual behaviour linked to a 'mystery boyfriend', with new love interest Bobby finding her flat unlocked and her nowhere to be found. But the missing person case soon became a murder probe when blood was found in Lauren's flat.

And it was Roy who quickly became DS Lisa Swain's prime suspect after it emerged he was the last person to see her alive. He then misguidedly deep-cleaned Lauren’s flat in a bid to help his friend Evelyn Plummer, who was sub-letting the precinct flat.

Roy has since been charged with Lauren's murder and was later refused bail following a scuffle with one of the many internet sleuths who have been targeting him over Lauren's possible death.

Since then, Bobby has given a false statement to the police in which he said he saw a man leaving Lauren's flat when he got inside - but it wasn't Roy - and it led to more questioning of Daniel Osbourne. There has also been a case of dog napping in a bid for the online trolls to get a confession out of Roy.

But luckily, during Wednesday night's (April 24) trip to Weatherfield, Freddie returned home safe and sound thanks to Asha Alahan's efforts. Also during the episode, Roy appeared to have a memory from around the time Lauren went missing, but it was all blurred and the audio was muffled.

Roy started having visions of Lauren

As he worked on remembering what he had seen from his cell, he realised there was a moment between Lauren and her pal Max Turner in the café. In the moment, which appeared to be projected onto Roy's cell wall, Max is talking to Lauren and she responds to him, but Roy was unable to work it all out.

Roy did, however, pull a face that appeared to suggest he had either worked out what it was about - or could we say who - as the screen focusing on Lauren's friend Max. The fellow teen appeared to be asking Lauren: "Is everything alright?" with her suggesting there was nothing wrong, before they both smiled.

He appeared to be recalling an interaction between Lauren and Max

Whether it's to be a significant part of proving Roy's innocence remains to be seen but the unusual prison scenes sparked comments from Corrie fans on social media.

@BadSanta6996 asked: "How's Roy allowed a projector in his room #corrie." @Beardybill1 questioned: "Is Roy having visions from beyond the grave that Max murdered Lauren? #Corrie."@ElleLou22 posted: "Why’s roy got max in his memory #corrie." @AntMelia94 said: "What the Entire History of You is going on with Roy? Why is he projecting all over his cell #Corrie."

But not everyone was a fan. @ifeelflames shared: "These Roy visions are so odd…I’m not quite sure what they’re going for with them #Corrie." @Greg_Phillips_ added: "Weird special effects have no place in @itvcorrie #Corrie."
