‘I Committed to Comedy’: Kevin Hart Accepts Mark Twain Prize
The Kennedy Center honored the comedian, who said he “fell in love with the idea of comedy” as something he could do for the rest of his life.
I fell in love with the idea of comedy and falling in love with the idea of comedy made me say, “oh, my God, I’m in love with something that I can do for the rest of my life.” That’s the win. I committed to comedy. I committed to saying that it’s either this or nothing else. All my eggs are in this basket. And my lesson to all that are watching or that will watch and some people frown upon gambling. Life without a gamble is a weird thing, man, because that’s acting as if, you know. You don’t know. You don’t know what [expletive] will work. You don’t know what your future will be. You don’t have the answers. So sometimes a gamble is the best way to define what will be you or ultimately become the best version of you.
