      Day 6 – 24

      2007 Crime Drama List
74% 31 Reviews Tomatometer 69% 100+ Ratings Audience Score Counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer fights the bad guys of the world, a day at a time. With each week's episode unfolding in real time, "24" covers a single day in the life of Bauer each season. Jack deals with assassination attempts, nuclear attacks, bioterrorism, torture, traitors, sleeper cells, other bad guys and the alarming tendency for his romances to end badly -- very badly. What to Know

      Critics Consensus

24's sixth day still delivers the goods on the action front, but this season's attempt to introduce Jack Bauer's familial angst into proceedings feels more contrived than inspired.

Dave C It's well and truly driven by its formulaic methodology now… admittedly, this has been evident from Day 4. This ‘Day', however, seems to have taken that farther, with ridiculous typecasting of characters (again!) based on previous scripts ^eyeroll^ ^sigh^ Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/31/23 Full Review H K I think this season was the worst season, the series revolves in a vicious circle, unlike the fifth season. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/20/23 Full Review Brett R Dreadful; many of the season's second act episodes are pretty bad (4/10's, and I mean it), but the first act is 9/10 and the third act has potential, so objectively, it can't fall below 6/10. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/18/23 Full Review Audience Member While far from the worst season of television I've ever seen, 24's sixth season is still not good. I was expecting something much worse but this season is still a misfire. The actors remain committed, there's good action and some well-handled twists and scenes, most notably the poignant final shot of the season. There's also Peter MacNicol's Tom Lennox legit impressing me. He started out as a cartoonish asshole but then he showed his good side and remained strictly heroic from that point on. Rescued from the Scrappy Heap, indeed. But then there are other problems. There's Jack Bauer's soap-opera drama with his...dysfunctional family including the nonsensical revelation whom that guy from Season 5 was, plot points being derivative of past seasons, Wayne Palmer worked better as a side character/non-series regular and isn't a very interesting President, the bad guys don't really stand out compared to even the infamous escape artist Habib Marwan, and of course, after a strong start, refusal to address a certain elephant in the room, or, should I say, elephant in Valencia. Compare something similar to Season 2 and the difference is jarring to say the least. Instead, Jack has to deal with his annoying relatives. Given all these glaring problems, I'm surprised that 24 had enough good moments to not make me hate it more than I was expecting but, even with the excuse that the writers were making a follow-up to the universally acclaimed fifth season without a professional thriller novelist and also had to deal with a strike, the crew sadly missed the mark with this season. In other words, I understand why the cast and crew consider this a lackluster season but still believe they were being a bit too hard on themselves. The important thing is, you guys tried your best in non-ideal circumstances. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Jack, what have they done to you? For five seasons, you were so cool, the everyman with Superman abilities, the patriot who was willing to sacrifice his humanity for the good of his country. Season Five was among the best seasons of television ever made (including the final seasons of Breaking Bad)...and then the writers decided that the REAL reason we watch this show is NOT, in fact, to see Jack save the country by being a badass, but instead a whole lot of insufferable Bauer family melodrama. They couldn't even cast Donald Sutherland as his father. There are only a couple of decent action scenes in the first few episodes, but the rest is hot garbage. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I know this season is generally considered the worst by fans, but I really enjoyed it. True, it is ridiculous, but 24 has always been a ridiculous show. I'm not a huge fan of the stuff with Jack's family, but it didn't spoil the season. The worst thing about this season is that the writers tend to drop storylines without any resolution (like the self-doubting Jack and that Milo used to date Chloe). Heather Havrilesky Salon.com 24 is the sort of show that can only thrive post-shark jump. Jul 16, 2019 Full Review John Leonard New York Magazine/Vulture There isn't a single season of 24 that could survive synopsis without the concussive distractions of split-screen boom-boom, adrenaline overdose, prurient wounding, and intravenous peekaboo. Rated: 2/5 Oct 18, 2017 Full Review Jeffrey Lyles Lyles' Movie Files Season 6 offers enough thrills and surprises to still make it entertaining though it was hinting that it might soon be on fumes. Fortunately that proved wrong. Rated: 8/10 Aug 5, 2020 Full Review Kevin Carr 7M Pictures My favorite part of "24" -- and it's very apparent in this season -- is how gray of a show it is. Even in the midst of black and white morals, nothing is sacred, and our emotions are almost always conflicted.
