HIBS could bring in a new Technical Director above Brian McDermott and Nick Montgomery in a bid to reverse the Capital club's fortunes.

Ex-Leeds boss McDermott joined the club last year as Director of Football alongside then boss Lee Johnson with a specific focus on recruitment.

Now the club are looking for a new candidate to come in and oversee the entire football department in response to a disappointing season on the pitch for Montgomery’s side.

The search is being spearheaded by Bill Foley’s Black Knight FC as part of an ongoing review into the woeful campaign.

And it is unclear what role McDermott, who played a key role in the hiring of Montgomery last September, will have in the new set-up.

Under-fire Monty, meanwhile, will welcome back Luke Amos and Lewis Miller for Saturday’s trip to St Johnstone.

The Hibs boss was given a stay of execution by the club’s owners following their failure to make the top six - but has been told results MUST improve.

And the return of Aussie Miller and midfielder Amos, who Monty described as a ‘statement signing’ in January, will provide more options.

Amos has not played since the home win over Dundee in February, while Miller has been out since suffering a recurrence of a hamstring injury at Ross County last month.

The statement which gave Montgomery a stay of execution read: "Like all Hibs supporters, we believe that a Club with our stature should, as an absolute minimum, finish in the top six.

"Ending the season in the bottom six is simply unacceptable.

"In the aftermath of Saturday’s draw with Motherwell, we came together to understand what happened this season and what are the necessary steps to move the Club forward.

"With that in mind, we will conduct a full review of the Club’s football structure in conjunction with Black Knights Football Club.

"The review will be a comprehensive evaluation of the entire football operation to ensure we perform at the highest level.

"We have also held detailed discussions with Nick Montgomery to understand what has gone wrong during the current campaign and mutually agreed that results this season have been disappointing. There’s an understanding that results need to improve."
