Young Irish cyclist Greta Price-Martin to be laid to rest next week after she dies in ‘terrible accident’

Tributes are being paid to the talented student

A YOUNG cyclist who died in a "terrible accident" will be laid to rest next week.

Greta Price-Martin, 22, passed away after her bike was involved in a collision with a truck in Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin at around 8am on Wednesday morning.

The IADT student, from Louth, was rushed to St Vincent's Hospital but died from her injuries.

Her death notice on RIP.ie reads: "Greta Price-Martin of Templetown, Cooley, County Louth, and Dún Laoghaire, aged 22, at St Vincent's Hospital, following a terrible accident.

"Deeply missed by her devastated sister Ruth, brothers Jack and Louis, partner Charlie, and her parents, Breffni and Vanessa, grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins and wider family and friends.

"Greta had just finished her first year at IADT and just started her first job in film production, with everything ahead of her, when she was struck down cycling to work on 24th April 2024.

"She will live on in the hearts and minds of her many family and friends.

"Our deepest thanks to the staff at St Vincent's who did their best."

Greta's funeral mass will take place at the Victorian Chapel, Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold's Cross on Monday.

The notice adds: "There will be a gathering of family and friends in the Eternity Room of Quinn's Funeral Homes, Bridge Street, Dundalk (Eircode A91 KW52) on Sunday, April 28th from 3pm-7pm.

"A Funeral Ceremony celebrating Greta's life will be celebrated in the Victorian Chapel, Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold's Cross, Dublin 6W (Eircode D6W HY98), on Monday, April 29th, at 4pm, followed by cremation."

Tributes have been pouring in for the Louth woman, with many recalling her "creativity and brilliance".

Robyn Maguire, IADT Admissions Officer, said: "My Deepest Condolences to Greta's parents Breffni and Vanessa, her siblings Ruth, Jack and Louis and her partner Charlie.

"Although her time in IADT was cut tragically short, it's clear she has made a significant impact amongst her classmates and the staff here in IADT.

"She will be dearly missed and her creativity and brilliance will not be forgotten."

Another said: "My deepest condolences to Greta's family and friends. Greta was such a lovely, easygoing girl who shared aspirations of becoming a video editor and walking the Camino in the summer.

"I'm saddened that I didn't have the opportunity to get to know her better during our short time working together. Rest in peace."

A third added: "Absolutely devastated to hear about Greta's untimely death, such a wonderful young bright girl with a smile that would light up any room.

"Our hearts are breaking, and our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this extremely distressing time. Sending you love and support."

Vanessa Gildea, Head of The National Film School, IADT wrote: "To Greta's parents Breffni and Vanessa, and to her brothers Jack & Louis, sister Ruth, partner Charlie, grandparents, extended family and friends; words cannot express our sadness, shock and heartbreak at Greta's passing, and at the loss of a much valued and cherished student and friend.

"We will miss her desperately, she was bright and brilliant. Sending you heartfelt condolences at this terrible time of grief, from all the staff and students of The National Film School IADT."
