Adam Jones has declared his interest in becoming Andy Farrell’s scrum coach on next year’s British & Irish Lions tour to Australia.

The Harlequins coach, 43, would love to take the role, having helped to lead Quins to their first Investec Champions Cup semi-final against Toulouse on May 5.

Harlequins made the last four with a stunning 42-41 win over Bordeaux Bègles in France, where Jones’s props, Fin Baxter and Will Collier, destroyed their famed opponents up front in the scrum.

Baxter, 22, and Collier, 32, won three scrum penalties against the 25-stone Tongan Ben Tameifuna and the 19-stone Georgian Lekso Kaulashvili, regularly popping them out of their binds, much to Jones’s delight.
