Eva Okaro will become the first black woman to represent Great Britain in the pool at the Olympics when she competes in the 4x100m freestyle at the Paris Games this summer.

The 17-year-old was included in a squad of 33 to compete in Paris by the British Olympic Committee on Tuesday. Okaro is only the second black female and fourth black swimmer to make a British Olympics team after Kevin Burns (1976), Paul Marshall (1980) and Alice Dearing, who competed in the 10km open-water event in 2021.

In the pool Okaro will be a pioneer and has helped to ensure that Britain will, for the first time, field a quartet in all seven relays at the Olympics this summer.
