Aberdeen have vowed to give Swedish manager Jimmy Thelin time to rebuild the club in the hope that he will “anchor” the Dons for years.

Chairman Dave Cormack is desperate for Thelin to succeed and has insisted the club will be patient after ploughing through Stephen Glass, Jim Goodwin, Barry Robson and caretaker boss Neil Warnock in the last three years.

Thelin, 46, will leave the Swedish Allsvenskan side IF Elfsborg in the summer to take over at Pittodrie in June. He will be given the responsibility of rebuilding the squad which finished third in the Premiership a year ago, competed well in the Europa Conference League this season and reached the Viaplay Cup final, but which is now in a struggle to avoid an
