Spain’s prosecutor wants the country’s former football federation president Luis Rubiales to be jailed for 2½ years for kissing the Women’s World Cup winner Jenni Hermoso without her consent.
The prosecutor is asking for one year in prison for Rubiales for the crime of sexual assault after the non-consensual kiss during the celebrations after Spain defeated England in last year’s Women’s World Cup final. The prosecution is also asking for a further 18 months in prison for the crime of coercion. The same sentence is also sought for Albert Luque, the federation’s sporting director, Jorge Vilda, the former women’s national team coach, and marketing director Rubén Rivera.
